The Miracle That Launched Skyline Into Greater Faith

On August 26, 2002, a tragedy became the catalyst that propelled Skyline, then still in its infancy, into a new dimension of faith. That morning, Ps Dr Philip Lyn and Ps Nancy felt God drop a verse in their hearts: "I shall not die but live and declare the works of the Lord" (Psalm 118:17). Hours later, they would desperately cling onto every word.

At 3:50 pm, Dr Lyn received a frantic call from his son Andrew - their four-year-old daughter Sarah was dying. She had accidentally gotten her head caught in a nylon clothesline rope while playing and strangled herself. When discovered hanging lifeless after six to seven minutes, she was found with no breath, no pulse, no heartbeat, face dark blue, pupils fixed and dilated in the hot sun.

Despite frantic CPR efforts, when Ps Philip arrived at the scene, Sarah remained unconscious with severe signs of brain damage. Yet remembering that morning's promise, he declared over her: "Sarah, you shall live, you shall not die!" At the hospital, as they awaited scan results in the darkened CT room, the Lyns clung to God's promises and kept praying.

The news spread like wildfire. Friends, church members, leaders and pastors poured in to comfort them and pray for Sarah. The young Skyline community mobilised powerfully, forming spontaneous prayer groups throughout the hospital, creating an atmosphere thick with expectant faith.

At midnight, Sarah emerged from her coma but couldn't see. The devastated parents faced the reality of permanent brain damage. Yet God had other plans. At exactly 3:45 am on August 27, twelve hours after the accident and on her fourth birthday, God performed the impossible. Sarah awoke completely restored: sight returned, intellect intact, counting to eleven, reading, and singing "Jesus loves me, this I know."

Sarah was discharged that same day to celebrate her birthday at home, returning to school the next day with only a rope mark as evidence of the miracle. This wasn't just a family's victory; it was Skyline's defining moment. The young congregation had witnessed firsthand that their God was not distant or theoretical - He was real, present, and powerful. Sarah's resurrection declared: if God could restore life from death, no miracle was impossible. A new era of faith had begun.
